Big yard projects and small construction jobs produce a lot of awkward, bulky material: brush and limbs, old fence boards and posts, a tired deck, scrap lumber, and broken concrete from a walkway.
Yard debris
Brush and branches are light but bulky. Cut limbs short and lay them flat so they pack tightly. Many Carson Valley properties also do defensible-space clearing around the home in late spring and summer, and a 20-yard or 30-yard holds a lot of brush. Ask whether the hauler wants green waste kept separate. Some do.
Dirt, rock and concrete
Soil, rock, brick and concrete are very heavy. Use a 10-yard, fill it only partway if the hauler asks you to, and keep these materials clean (no trash mixed in) when possible.
Construction debris
For framing scraps, packaging, drywall and old fixtures on a build or addition, a 30-yard is the usual contractor choice. Ask about swap service for longer jobs.
What to keep out
Treated-wood rules, tires, and fuel or chemical containers vary. Check what can’t go in a dumpster and confirm with the hauler.
